Simply gorgeous wedding

Natural shades of green and cream theme created a simply gorgeous wedding.  The bouquet complimented the table settings, the cake and the confetti.  The beautiful cake was made by the bride's mother, including the floral decorations. Such a clever lady! The bride chose pale green cones and ivory natural confetti.

Natural confetti harvest

It has been a brilliant year for our larkspur here at The Natural Confetti Company in Culmstock, thanks to the great weather we have been experiencing.  I have even got hubby picking petals for me!

Rose petals

Oh my goodness, this is some weather we are having and the roses in our gardens are just stunning and abundant right now. It is just the perfect time to choose real rose petal confetti for a wedding. We can offer fresh rose petals delivered directly to the venue, 20 or 25 mile radius from EX15 3HW, or beautiful freeze dried rose petals sent to you. Contact Julie for mor info. Our fresh rose petals are grown locally and the freeze dried rose petals come from Europe. Rose petals are quite large for throwing from confetti cones, although not impossible, but are more suited to being loose in baskets or pails.

Trip to Turkey for bougainvillea

Sitting on a plane on my way to Turkey to join family out there. They are lucky enough to have a villa there in the hills that is literally surrounded by pink, yellow, orange and white bougainvillea wild flowers. The petals dry quickly out in the sun and we are able to send them home. Bougainvillea make lovely floaty confetti petals. When thrown up they float down like fairies. They look lovely just loose in baskets as they are not really suitable for cones and small organza bags as the petals are very large, similar size to larger rose petals.

Favourite colours for 2013

These two simple colours, raspberry and ivory, certainly seem to be the favourite for 2013!
A mixture of raspberry delphinium petals and ivory delphinium petals in mulberry paper cones, or simply loose in a pretty little basket.

Baskets

I very often get asked for larger baskets to hold loose natural petal confetti so that guests can grab a handful in readiness for the confetti throw. I always assume that mums of brides have baskets tucked away in a cupboard or hanging in a kitchen somewhere, as I do, so I tell the brides to ask mum. Clearly, I am not always correct and by public demand, I decided to source some lovely baskets pictured here in my garden in Culmstock. I am so thrilled with these baskets and have had some great comments since posting pictures of them on my site. Please do take a look at them on the  baskets page. They do require lots of confetti to fill them, but well worth it if there are lots of guests.

Lavender as confetti

An alternative to petals for natural petals or rice could be lavender for natural wedding confetti It smells so beautiful and if you are on a budget, it is much more reasonable. Try it with a mix of marigold petals to give a warm gold and blue colour mix.

Simple but effective

Thanks to Jan of Essential Images Jan for taking this amazing picture of a gorgeous couple who recently married at Careys Manor. They chose plain ivory delphinium petals for their natural confetti in cones handmade with mulberry paper. Simple yet so effective!

Think local first, buy local when you can, be a local!

It is great when a customer calls and says "it is so nice to be able to buy local product".

Comments like this leave me with a feeling of satisfaction and I would like to say It promotes a sense of community. If you want to get to know your neighbours and others in your community, supporting local businesses and spreading the word is a great way to do that.

Locally owned businesses can make more local purchases requiring less transportation which in general terms means a reduction in environmental impact.

Local businesses often hire people with a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know customers.

Local businesses are owned by people who live in the community, are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community’s future.

One lovely lady wanted to order some  organza bags of natural confetti for a wedding and needed to call me to ask some questions as I had a made a teeny mistake on my Website and she was having problems ordering exactly what she wanted. We had a lovely conversation and I was able to supply her with these lovely bags of natural confetti She was thrilled that she was able to buy local and speak to somebody who knew what they were talking about (hopefully)!!

Wicker baskets

Wicker baskets full of lovely Natural Confetti for your wedding. These lovely little handmade cones are perfect for your guests, I just made 80 of these, took me about 4 hours but it was worth it to see them sitting in a large basket filled with lovely natural petals.

And after the wedding, if there are any petals left over, the children can have fun and throw them in the air!!

Storybook

No, you are quite right this has nothing to do with natural confetti but more to do with what happens at some stage after the confetti throw!  Babies!  And just as the all important weddings photographs have to be captured and treasured, so do the all important photographs of children as they grow.  Why not book a session with the amazing Essential Images and have your memories captured in the form of a storybook.

Planting natural confetti

We made use of the first good day yesterday and commenced planting of this years crops for our natural confetti. We still have along way to go so hopefully the weather will hold for us. Dare I say that we will need a little rain very soon to water in the seeds! As we took a quick break and looked out at the views across our fields, we realised how lucky we are and just why we chose to live here!

Bougainvillea

We have recently been fortunate enough to visit Turkey and Morocco where we saw the beautiful Bougainvillea flower in its full glory. These petals float to the ground so gracefully when they fall from the plants. They make lovely wedding confetti for scattering and throwing. The flowers come in many beautiful pastel and bright colours. We like this pink and natural confetti have a limited amount available as a trial addition to our range. Contact Julie for more info.

More natural wicker baskets

The wedding season seems to get earlier every year and our baskets are so very popular indeed. Another order gone out this afternoon for three lucky bridesmaids. Three lovely little baskets filled with cones of raspberry and ivory natural confetti, my favourite colour mix.
Miniature organza bags are also a great idea for a handful of natural confetti. They are perfect in baskets too, or little jute bags, and little girls love to hand them out to guests.
